Are you free now to be whoever you want, to do whatever you like, to go wherever you like or to have whatever you desire? Chances are, you are not and you don't even know any people who have that much freedom, so you might think it is impossible for you, so you accept the illusion of freedom that is on your doorstep. It doesn't have to be this way. If you do what you are suggested in this article, you will be able to enjoy lasting freedom, financial and any other.
Most people believe that to be free, they need money, indeed a lot of money. But there is something more valuable that provides lasting freedom, which will be introduced here. There is a currency that has more value than money and gold combined.
The Measure of Success
Most people relate success to money. They believe success means having a lot of money. Money is great thing to have, because it can get you many things to enjoy. However, most of us who have been there, done that – achieved success and financial freedom – we know better. We know that true success means having time, freedom, peace, love, lasting joy, health, impact on others and power, all of which money cannot buy. In our opinion, successful are those who have more time, not just more money. Since the idlers and slackers have much time too, it should be noted that for us truly successful people are those who have a lot of time and money, to be exact: those who succeeded in achieving high passive income and making a great impact on their community, fulfilling their purpose in life and having much time for others and to enjoy life.
Most people in the world value money over time – they think money is more valuable than time – so they trade time for money every working day. As an employee, this is what you do, you sell your time to the organization you work for.
To enjoy your life, what are you currently missing more: money or time? Honestly.
What is the most common excuse for people not visiting or meeting their family and friends? No time. Some haven't even called some of their beloved family members in long time, because no time. Why most people don't get to do things they love? No time, or no money. But mostly because no time. For example, many people would like to read more, but have no time for it. Some they would like to meditate more, but no time. Some would like to take more walks in nature, but no time. Some would like to exercise more, but they say they’ve got no time for it. Some would like to spend more time with their children and family in general, but no time. Some would like to engage (more) in issues that they care for, like support a humanitarian organization by working as a volunteer, but no time. There is so many things we don't do, because we don't have time for it.
Definition of Success
- Ralph Waldo Emerson:
"To laugh often and much,
to win respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;
to earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;
to appreciate beauty;
to find the best in others;
to leave the world a bit better
whether by a healthy child,
a garden patch, or a
redeemed social condition;
to know even one life
has breathed easier
because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded."

Why don't we have time for it? Because we don't make time for it. Why don't we make time for it? Because of bad time management and because we place more value on other things, such as money, than on time and things we need time for. And, because we don't know how to get more time without losing money. Here, in this article, you will find out how you can earn time and money at the same time.
Many financially rich people have no time to really enjoy their wealth, no health, no loving relationship, no peace, no real freedom, and they have more financial worries than poor people – different kind of worries, but still worries. So we realize, being rich alone is not the way to have complete well-being neither it is a measure of success. So, what is the way then?
We can appreciate money and make a lot of it, but not necessarily by trading it for time. Our definition of success, as well as the one of many other successful people is that the measure of success is not money but time, freedom and impact/contribution! If you manage to have a lot of time to enjoy life, spend it the way you want it, with whom you want it and where you want it – then you are truly successful. Having money helps, so we are all for making money, but not necessarily trading it for time, not selling time to get money.
So how does one get money without trading it for time? Simple: by passive income.
How do you get passive income? Certainly not by means of employment. Having a job is not a way to earn passive income, and no way to enjoy lasting well-being. We know this might be blasphemy for some of you who value mainstream system as it were godly, because you have been raised and taught all your life that you need to find a good job to be successful and happy, so being subjected to a contrary concept, it shatters your understanding of life and many of you are not comfortable with that, but bear with me. If you prefer to accept the old paradigm it is mainly because it gives you an illusion of safety. You might think you are safe in your old way of thinking and living, but you are not, as many have learned it the hard way. The best of companies go bankrupt, the best of employees get fired every minute of the day somewhere in the world, so who is to say that you are safe?!

Then what
A businessman was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow-fin tuna. The businessman complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied only a little while.
The businessman then asked why he didn't stay out longer and catch more fish? The Mexican said he had enough to support his family's immediate needs. The businessman then asked, but what do you do with the rest of your time? The Mexican fisherman said, "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take a siesta with my wife, Maria, stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine and play guitar with my amigos; I have a full and busy life, señor."
The businessman scoffed, "I am a Harvard MBA and I could help you. You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats; eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middleman, you would sell directly to the processor and eventually open your own cannery. You would control the product, processing and distribution. You would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then LA and eventually New York City where you would run your expanding enterprise."
The Mexican fisherman asked, "But señor, how long will this all take?"
To which the businessman replied, "15-20 years." "But what then, señor?"
The businessman laughed and said, "That's the best part! When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions." "Millions, señor? Then what?"
The businessman said, "Then you would retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you would sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take a siesta with your wife, stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play your guitar with your amigos."
The fisherman, still smiling, looked up and said, "Isn't that what I'm doing right now?"

We don't know how far you are on you discovery journey in life, but surely many of you have already had a glimpse of the illusory nature of the old paradigm, realizing that not everything is as it seems. You must know or heard of people in your own community who had the best of education and great job but ended up on a street for whichever reason.
If you want to continue giving others power over your financial situation, you are free to do that. But if you are smarter than that, then it is time for you to get out of that slavery model and be free.
No one wants to admit they have a slave mentality, but as long as you do what others tell you to do in your professional life, as long as you have to make compromises in order to get a paycheck, as long as you have to sell your time to a company, you are at their disposal, they can do with you whatever they want – tell you what you should do with your time, how you should dress or behave, tell you where to reside and to go on business trips, they can govern much of your life and influence your health, family life and so on. Whether you want to admit or not, by selling your time to a company, you are often forced to sell a part of your soul, if not the whole soul. You often get to do things that are against your nature, against your values – against your soul.
The only way to be financially and otherwise free is to take your destiny in your own hands and to fulfill your life’s purpose (your mission in life, your calling), creating the circumstances in which money works for you, instead of you working for money. When you do what you are born to do, you will be highly rewarded, with both money and time. You were born for a reason. Not the reason your parents wanted to have you. There are higher powers that put you here were you are and there is a purpose to your life. There is nothing more important than fulfilling your purpose, doing that what you came for. You better get aware of that if you want to enjoy lasting well-being and financial freedom because only by doing what you are meant to do on this Earth, you will be able to be free and well-off.
Each of us has a different path in life, different mission, purpose, but there are some common traits and patterns. We can't go into all the ways to be free, but we can reveal you some of them and the foundations.
Foundations
"True knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing. To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge" - Socrates
|
Let’s begin with foundations. The chances are, you believe knowledge is the basis of success. That is why you invested years and years in education. Knowledge is good but your success should not be based on knowledge, at least not only on knowledge. Not all knowledge is good or right. Knowledge is relative and subjective. If we are to believe Socrates and many other wise, renown people, we know really nothing.
Also, what works for some, it doesn't necessarily work others. No need to tell you examples of people who come from the same upbringing, having the same education and opportunities, but one is on dole and other is on private jet, because surely you know many such examples. Why is that?
Surely, this proves that knowledge or education is not the key to success. Then, what is? Some will say talents and skills. Sure, they are great to have. But don't you know many people who are talented and skillful but still struggling or suffering? We all know too many people like that. In no way should we dismiss talents and skills – surely they are very important, but are they foundations, are they the key? They can't be, if so many people who got them are not successful. Everyone has talent and skill for something, so why aren't all people successful and free? Do you have an answer? We do.
Here it is: the real foundations, or if you like to call it the key for success, are virtues. If you are not convinced because you know you and many others have virtues but are not that successful and free, let us explain. It is true, you have all the virtues there are – you are born with them, but the question is, are you really cultivating the ones you need to succeed and be financially free? It is one thing to have something and quite the other to use it. When we say virtues, we don't just mean goodness. Being a good person won't make you successful or free. There are countless virtues and not all are responsible for financial freedom and success. Some of them work for health, some of them for romance, some of them for finances.
The virtues that you need to be successful and free in terms of your profession and finances depend on what your profession is, but here are some that apply to most professions: self-initiative, perseverance, persistence, determination, endurance, resilience, consistency, faith (in yourself, in your possibilities, in the value of what you do etc.), trust (many people miss various opportunities because they do not have trust in those who provide them), love (for your work and others), authenticity, enterprising, proactiveness, self-discipline, responsibility, joy, enthusiasm, optimism, integrity, honesty, patience, generosity, courage, flexibility, curiosity and so on.
No doubt, you are capable of expressing all of your virtues, but are you doing it? Have you taken full responsibility for your life - for all the outcomes, good and bad? Do you take initiative? Are you self-disciplined when you need to? Are you trusting when an opportunity to make money present itself? Are you aware how many opportunities to be financially free you missed simply because you were doubtful and distrusting or because you had no courage or faith in yourself to do it? According to the laws of nature, only by sowing we can reap and by giving we get - are you generous or you prefer to get what you want for free? Are you persistent enough to follow through a project or you give up too soon? Do you have patience with people and projects? Are you optimistic just on the outside, but not on the inside? Do you cultivate unconditional joy? Are you resilient to whatever comes your way, or you easily lose it to fear, sloth, apathy, distrust and other destructive forces? Are you authentic or you mainly try to fit in or follow into other people’s footsteps? How much do you really love what you do and people you are doing it with and for?
These are all important questions, and they are not rhetorical, you do need to answer them to yourself and do it honestly, if you want to make a change for the better in your life. For example, we know a person who thinks of herself very highly, believing she cultivates virtues and doesn't sell her soul. She is against smoking cigarettes, but she works in a big marketing company that took on a project for advertising cigarettes. It is against her values to promote smoking cigarettes but she has to do it because it is her job and she wants to show that she is professional. She would tell you that she is just doing her job, she is not selling her soul this way. So if you agree with her, then you still don't get it. Most people are in denial and that is why they struggle through life. When you are in denial, you don't even accept that you struggle, like she doesn't, even though she lives in a tiny apartment, can't afford most of the things she’d like to have, can see the love of her life only on some weekends and family even less often. This is not the a great life, this is not being free.
So, to be financially free is to be free of all the misconceptions. Precondition for lasting financial freedom is freedom of misconceptions. You are where you are because of what you believe or don't believe. Your notions about life and the world are what you base your decisions. Even now, this second you either believe what is presented to you or you don't, based on what conceptions you brought here with you. Why some people believe us and some don't, it has nothing to do with us or what we present nor how we present it, as much as it is down to who you are, your awareness level and your conception of reality and truth.
The idea that virtues are foundation for success is not ours neither it is new. Every financially free person we know swears on it and many told us we could quote them on that virtues are the key to success. Take any self-book on the subject of success, and they all tell you, you need to be this and that. No one really tells you, you need to know this and that, or have this or that. They tell you how you should be and what you should do, because virtues and actions are what it takes to be successful.
As soon as you get that, you will start activating and cultivating certain virtues you need to prosper. We know it is not enough to tell you that you need to, say, be proactive. How to be all that you need to be, that is the key. There are many of you who already know that you need to be more of this and that but can't manage to be that way. This is a complex matter and we can't cover it now. However, we have an entire e-leaning program called “Virtuology” that gives instructions on how to activate and cultivate each virtue and also how to free oneself of the non-virtues we call shortcomings or faults or vices. A part of it is available in the section "Articles". But you don't have to take part in our program, you can do it yourself or get other self-help books or programs, or find role-models from whom you can get inspiration to be the way you want to be in order to prosper.
The point it: you can be anything you want to be. There is nothing you can't be if you set your mind and heart on it and go for it. Most people falsely believe that they are how they are and that they can't change that. They believe that they are not this or that, and this belief prevents them from being it.
Anyone who can be something one minute, can be it also any or every minute. Try being something you think you are not for just one minute, and you will surely see you can do it. Then increase it by trying to be it for a few minutes or more, and then be it when a situation arises that requires you to be that way and you will be surprised how capable you are. Say, you think you are not optimistic. Try being optimistic just for a minute, then two minutes and so on as long as you can at this point. Then try being it in a situation in which it would be good to be that way. All the virtues are inborn in you, they are there, you just need to activate them and then cultivate them. Sometimes it is a decision all it takes, sometimes you need to practice it or get support for it. Do whatever it takes, just be it!
We have people saying that they can't do a business because they are not something – say, some they say they are not independent enough, others say they are not trusting, many say they have no faith in themselves, no confidence. And so their misconceptions about themselves prevent them to go for a business opportunity. They just accept this is how they are and what they believe and they allow themselves to be stuck in it. They are not free. They are enslaved by their beliefs, by their misconceptions. Distrust, doubt, pessimism and other forms of the misuse of mind-power have power over them and over their destiny. There’s absolutely nothing in the business itself that would get them to distrust it, since millions of other people do it and succeed with it, so if they could make it, distrustful people could make it as well, but only if they free themselves of distrust and cultivate virtues instead.
Some people even go as far in believing that it is their intuition that is making them distrust, in effort to justify their own shortcomings. It is true, intuition is one of the best tools for making decisions, but only if it is actual intuition. Intuition is not all that some people think it is. For most people it is hard to distinguish intuition from the voice of fear or ego. But let’s not get into that now. Again, we have a separate multimedia module that covers the topic of intuition if you want to know more about that.
So, the foundations for success are virtues, along the knowledge and skills. So we invite you to do due diligence and give more attention to the subject of virtues - activate them and cultivate them, for your own good.
We know how these things go – when someone introduces a new concept, there are those who totally get it and do something about it, and there are those who don't. This is because our world is governed by universal laws, one of which is the law of polarity, assuring that everything in our life and world swings between two poles – positive and negative. So any idea, thing and person can be seen from both sides.
So, all of you who are negative about this and by chance still here, all we can say is “good luck to you”, because you will need much luck if you intend to continue basing your success on knowledge. And to all of you who are positive about it, we invite you to join us on our journey of spreading this message. We believe that it would be great if more people are introduced to this idea that virtues are key to success, hoping that they would cultivate their virtues more and so make our world a better place. If more people prosper and enjoy their lives, it will be better for us all. In this sense, forward this article to others, please.
